Art Journals, Altered Books and Sketchbooks

I have worked in mixed media art journals, altered books and sketchbooks for many years. I turn to them as a retreat and as a place to work out creative ideas. The practice of working in these books is a process that helps me ask questions, explore, feel and process emotions, play, have fascinating conversations, learn and experiment and work things through in my mind and heart. My favorite question to ask and then follow in these books is, ā€œWhat would happen if?ā€

I love to work in vintage books I find at thrift stores and antique malls, regular mixed media sketchbooks and beautiful hand bound books full of handmade Nepalese loktah papers. I use goauche, watercolor and acrylic paints, collage, found words, textiles, slow stitching and gathered nature in my process.

I hope you enjoy looking at some of the book pages I have created!
